This article is about a UFO or UAP sighting made by retired Lieutenant Colonel Leon Bugh, who served many years in the U.S. Air Force OSI. This UFO or UAP sighting was also witnessed to a leeser degree by his wife and a grandson. Lieutenant Colonel Leon Bugh and his wife have both since passed away years ago. However, in this article, his grandson (George Bugh's nephew) gives his personal account of what he saw and remembers. Lieutenant Colonel Leon Bugh originally retired to Austin, Texas around 1960. Then around 1986, the Austin estate was sold and the Bughs moved to a larger ranch near McGregor, Texas.

The below webpage tells the public unclassified history of the land turned over to the city of McGregor, Texas which is now leased to SpaceX:

This following family history is related by George Bugh (and one of his nephews) of what his Mom, Dad and this nephew had witnessed back before the Naval facility was turned over to the city of McGregor:

Late on a moonless night, dad said he saw an area of stars blocked out by something that was silent, over a mile long and flying over the ranch and off to the Southwest. Later when it was a few miles away, mom and a nephew saw it also. My nephew says glowing foo fighter type of orbs were flying around it when he saw it. It went off in the distance and went down when my mom said a bunch of lights lit it up as it appeared to start going beneath ground level. She said she thought it was landing at Fort Hood but when looking at a map of the direction she indicated it landed, Fort Hood was about 30 miles away but the Naval facility at McGregor, Texas was only about 5 miles away in a similar direction. Fort Hood would have been too far to observe what they said they saw. It could have been a blimp except it was extraordinarily large and had glowing orbs flying with it.

Read George Bugh's nephew's memory of the sighting in the below email exchange and keep in mind that this was many years before battery powered propellor drone technology. The dates of the email exchange are many years after the sighting.

All the orbs moved in straight lines and stopped at a point without slowing down. After the orbs completed making one geometric shape they would individually start moving again in straight lines to form a new design. Let me also add that they also moved faster than anything known to man ... not light speed fast but greater than Mach 10 for sure.
My OPINION was the orbs where making those patterns as a means to make take off calculations for “the big dome” or something of that sort. Could also have been some sort of signal that they had arrived safely? Lol who the hell knows?!
I was walking back from the creek area where we had bonfires etc. Grandpa was standing outside looking up and I asked him what he was doing? He replied that he was watching the UFOs. So I’m thinking yah right! But soon as I look up there they are, orbs of light in the sky numbering 7 or 8 making what look like geometric patterns of various shapes. This goes on for a short while. I’m not sure if the big dome on the ground had been there all along or not but was not long after watching the orbs that I saw a very large dome on the ground on the horizon illuminated by lights traveling down the center of the dome up and down as well as across. It had to of been enormous given the size of it way off in the distance. If I had to guess I would put its length at In between several football size stadiums and a mile across. This went on for no more than 5 minutes from the time that I walked up and became a witness. After this time all the lights disappeared and so lost sight of everything. At this time grandpa and I went in to see if anything was on the news about this sighting. I don’t remember grandma being there only grandpa and I.

(04/25/2021: Note from George Bugh: From what my mom had told me, I think that either she had gone inside the house after witnessing it land and then later my nephew came up from the creek area or else my nephew just didn't remember mom there because it was mainly my dad he was talking to.)
Grandpa told me he saw it pass near the ranch and was blocking out an area of stars.

From what you are saying, it sounds like you came out of the house and saw it after grandpa had been watching it awhile already.

Is that correct?
So you only saw after it had landed, yes?
I didn’t see it land. I just saw a giant dome on the ground off in the distance with 7 or so glowing orbs Making what appeared to be geometric shapes in the sky. Grandpa said it had to have something to do with a military base in that direction. The same spot where SpaceX is now.
Both sounds good but can you tell all the facts you remember and then separately tell your interpretation

People were asking me for the facts so I might want to just post that part and decide about posting the rest when I see it.

Is that OK?

Grandma said she thought it was landing at Fort Hood but when I looked up on a map where she said it landed it was where SpaceX is now outside of McGregor Texas.

Back then, before there was ever a SpaceX, all that land and facilities were owned by the Navy.
No I don’t mind. Do you want just the facts or my interpretation of the events along with something that I saw years later in an artists rendering of “the big one”?
Hello nephew*,

I hope you are surviving OK and getting lots of take out orders.

Do you remember being at the ranch and seeing a UFO along with grandma and grandpa?

I remember grandpa said he could tell it was big because of where it was blocking out the stars.

I thought you told me you saw glowing orbs come out of it.

Do you remember any of that?

If yes, how long and what shape do you think the main vehicle was?

Did it make any noise?

thanks, uncle George
